OUGD503 Module Evaluation

I enjoyed this module the most out of all the modules, this was because I had the freedom to select my own briefs. This has allowed me to pick briefs that will benefit my practice and portfolio. Out of all the Briefs my favourite was "The Saucy Fish Co." this was because I enjoyed collaborating with others - I also think we have a real shot of winning in the competition as our concept is strong and we have exceeded and adhered to the brief really well. Because of this collaboration it has encouraged me to pursue future collaborations.

What I enjoyed least of the module was the John Lewis brief, I think because I struggled with this I became really bored with it. After finishing it I realised that I should of picked a brief I felt more passionate about as I have noticed from this module the more passionate about the brief I am the more successful my designs are.

Doing competitions has been really difficult for me as I haven't has much experience with these in the past this module has prepared me for future competitions - I am also more willing to get involved with more competitions in the future. I think the thing about competitions that worried me was how topresent the work I have done. After this module I feel pretty confident in presenting my work professionally, I think this will help me progress into level 6.

I were to do this module again I would of chosen different Briefs, some of the briefs I really clicked with and others not so much the ones I clicked with were definitely more successful, so with this in mind I would pick different briefs that I know I will enjoy - I don't mean easy or less challenging but something I feel excited to keep going.

I feel like this module has helped me progress in other modules, it has allowed me to be more creative and less restricted although sometimes the freedom can be hard to manage the more I use my indendncy the better I get at it. I feel a lot more confident as the module has progressed and I think this has shown in my group work.

Overall this module went really successfully aside from the odd trouble with time management, I will continue to do competition briefs for my own satisfaction and development over the summer.

OUGD503 Brief 2, Collaborative Practice - Presentation Boards

Finally our designs and presentation boards are ready for submission, me and cameron worked on these together taking it in turns to write for each slide cameron wrote for the front of the packaging and posters, I wrote for the back of the packaging, the app and I also drew a guide on how to use the packaging - for the magnets slide we both wrote together. We chose to write about most slides separately because we had more knowledge on how it was designed. We have gone for a really clean and simple spread which will make it easy and thorough for the judges to follow. We have also tried to write in 3rd person but more professionally so that we are describing less and telling more. For example using key words in the brief to highlight our success' and also to show we have clearly targeted and exceeded what was asked.

As the group were away for easter I had to submit the presentation boards and work, below is what I believe to be true about our work and practice, I then showed this to the group before submitting.

OUGD504 Brief 2, Collaborative Practice - Posters

After creating the app we decided in a group that we need something to promote the new products to do this we discussed what we could do to advertise the fish, we came up with the idea of a zine, posters, recipe cards and points of sales.  The most realistic idea was between the recipe cards & posters, this was because the packaging took longer than we had planned out on our time scale. If we had managed our time a little better or less sick days then we could of considered a point of sale but I guess you cant predict the future.

These posters were designed by Cameron with my input, cameron took the packaging design and applied the colours & brusho to the posters, alongside that we thought to connect our magnets with our packaging so we could use our tag lines to create a connection. We created a set of 3 posters because we have designed for 3 different products not only that but to show that our designs could be used on almost every saucy fish product.
