OUGD404 Brief 2 - The bind

Once my cover was dry I started to put together my book, this was
the most difficult part aside from the content.

I started by aligning all the segments (uncut) in order, I then measured
1 inch away from the edge of the book I then marked 2 more inches
then again on the other side. to create a consistency through the book
I used a ruler and marked out the current markings on all segments.

I then created holes for the thread in the marked sections. For my front and
back cover I measured 1cm in and marked the same amount of holes
to be punched through. To stitch my book rather then explaining it would
be better if you could see as it is quite a complex stitch when watching the
tutorial it looked easy but when it came to it.. it took almost 3/4 of a day
to stitch due to tangles and going wrong (I managed to sew a segment upside
down this presented its own challenges!)

I am thoroughly impressed with my outcome, at first I thought my project
may have been way too ambitious but overall I feel it is successful.
I feel I could make certain improvements if i were to make it again. I have really
enjoyed this brief definitely one of the best of the course so far It has been
an experience to learn about book layout and editorial alongside process'
and techniques I would definitely consider making my own publications in
the future again.
