OUGD503 Brief 1, John Lewis - App Development

Developing my app was definitley something I found difficult I started out with some intial ideas and sketches which led me to creating a basic wireframe, this helped me progress - seeing what i needed less of and what i needed more of.

I also worked on creating a icon, this didn't go so well... this was when it hit home i need to scrap the handwriting type because it looked tacky - if i wanted to use hand type i needed to actually write it, the other issue with this was the amount of space you can use for an icon, the more text the more cluttered and illegible.

From my designs through feedback I worked into colour originally I went straight in for a peachy orange, although I liked this others didn't as it felt feminine by separating genders this way it would make the app less popular - to avoid this my peers suggested using colours that may appear gender nuetral - steer away from the pastels.

I experimented with a turquoise green - similar to John Lewis' brand and a bright a colourful orange. Out of the two my peers preferred the orange because it added character and also wasn't the straight up usual for John Lewis.

Out of the colours I am taking forward the orange because of the positive feedback from it, it also makes the app pop off the screen.
